چکیده

This paper presents a comparative description of different methods of determination of arsenic, antimony and selenium: spectrophotometric, electro-analytical (voltamperometry), activation analysis, atomic fluorescence and the methods of inductive or microwave-induced plasma in combination with different detection methods (emission or mass spectrometry). The description is based on literature data illustrating the present state of the metalloid determinations in different matrices. The limits of determination ensured by different methods are also compared. Much attention has been paid to methods combining chromatographic separation with selective detection, especially with the application of plasma generation methods

Total Content of Arsenic, Antimony and Selenium in Groundwater Samples from Western Poland

This paper presents statistical analysis of results of determination of the total content of arsenic, antimony, selenium and microcomponents in 49 samples of groundwater from an area of western Poland (Wielkopolska). The total content of arsenic reached up to 3.00 ng/ml, antimony 1.25 ng/ml, selenium < 0.15 ng/ml, at detection limits of 0.16 ng/ml for As, 0.18 ng/ml for Sb and 0.15 ng/ml for Se...

Evaluation of electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry for trace determination of Sb, As and Se in gasoline and kerosene using microemulsion sample introduction and two approaches for chemical modification

Studies aimed at the development of analytical methods based on electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry for the determination of antimony, selenium and arsenic in gasoline and kerosene were performed. The goal was to develop sensitive methods that allow a simple calibration procedure to be used through direct correlation between analyte signals measured in the sample and signals from aque...

The role of atomic fluorescence spectrometry in the automatic environmental monitoring of trace element analysis

Considerable attention has been drawn to the environmental levels of mercury, arsenic, selenium and antimony in the last decade. Legislative and environmental pressure has forced levels to be lowered and this has created an additional burden for analytical chemists. Not only does an analysis have to reach lower detection levels, but it also has to be seen to be correct. Atomic fluorescence dete...

Arsenic, Antimony, Chromium, and Thallium Speciation in Water and Sediment Samples with the LC-ICP-MS Technique

Chemical speciation is a very important subject in the environmental protection, toxicology, and chemical analytics due to the fact that toxicity, availability, and reactivity of trace elements depend on the chemical forms in which these elements occur. Research on low analyte levels, particularly in complex matrix samples, requires more and more advanced and sophisticated analytical methods an...
